<p>The Arc of Delaware County has recently joined the new Eastern Delaware County Consortium on Inclusive Recreation as the ‘lead agency’ for the Collaborative Consortium. The Consortium is made up of organizations and individuals who promote the concept of inclusive recreation in Eastern Delaware County in a manner that will increase inclusive opportunities in schools and communities for people with disabilities.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em>The Arc’s Legislative Affairs Committee held forum for local legislators, updated them on issues.</em></p>
<p>The Arc of Delaware County, which fights for the rights and opportunities for people with disabilities, hosted its Annual Legislative Breakfast for elected officials to update them on issues impacting Delaware County’s citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This included thanking legislators for their support on Adult Protective Services legislation as well as briefing them on Special Education legislation and discussing the necessary funding for the Commonwealth’s enormous waiting list for services.</p>
<p>Feature Speakers included:<br />
Stephen Suroveic, Executive Director of the Arc of Pennsylvania<br />
Sheila Stasko, Statewide Coordinator of the PA Waiting List Campaign</p>
<p>About 120 people total attended the event. This included elected officials and Arc of Delaware County members.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>(Swarthmore, PA- January 12, 2011)</strong> Amber Latsha recently started at The Arc of Delaware County as the new Advocate handling Adult Advocacy, Educational Advocacy and Social-Recreation Programs. The nonprofit is headquartered in Swarthmore.</p>
<p>Latsha’s previous work experience includes being a Life Sharing Coordinator at Pennsylvania Mentor in Philadelphia for almost five years. Also, Latsha was a Program Specialist and Instructor at LifePath in Sellersville, PA for over five years. She currently resides in Narberth. Latsha has a B.A. in Psychology from Bloomsburg University and is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Human Services at Capella University. She has been involved in a variety of volunteer organizations for a number of years including the Compeer program, Salvation Army, Special Olympics and Pals for Life. Latsha has also been on the Bucks County Assistive Technology Committee as well as the Communication Champions program serving Philadelphia.</p>
<p>‘We are pleased to have someone with Amber’s background and experience leading our Advocacy and program efforts,” said Frank Bartoli, Executive Director of The Arc. “Her dedication to our population is an asset that is hard to find.”</p>
